Romantic Adventure Getaways Overnight Escape Room Review (2025)
Looking for a romantic adventure getaway that blends romance, adventure, and a touch of mystery?
If the usual “romantic weekend” is starting to feel predictable, this experience is the reset button you didn’t know you needed.
Romantic Adventure Getaways turns a simple couples’ escape into something cinematic.
Imagine an Airbnb-style historic home where each private suite comes with its own theme and storyline (and you never cross paths with another soul).
Each stay begins like a traditional weekend away… but that’s where ordinary ends.
From there, you’re pulled into hidden rooms, puzzles, and interactive challenges that unlock spa spaces, hands-on activities, and even custom photo-op rooms that match your theme.
It’s part escape room, part romantic retreat, completely unlike anything we’ve ever stayed in.
We were hosted at their Hillsboro, Ohio location in the Wizard Romance Suite, a Harry-Potter-inspired hideaway for couples who want a little enchantment woven into their weekend.
One early puzzle even led us to a secret room that set the tone for the whole adventure.

Romantic Adventure Getaways Review
In this review, I’m breaking down every part of our experience so you know exactly what to expect from a stay with Romantic Adventure Getaways.
I’ll walk you through all the main areas of the suite, including the dining space, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, so you can get a feel for the overall layout before the adventure even begins.
From there, I’ll take you inside the hidden passageways and secret rooms you unlock throughout your stay, along with the themed puzzles, activities, and surprises waiting behind each door.
I’ll also share the extra experiences and add-ons available, plus some of the thoughtful personal touches the hosts can prepare if you coordinate with them ahead of time.
And of course, I’ll include helpful tips and things to know before you go so you can make the most of your stay and plan your romantic adventure with confidence.
Wizard Romance Suite
When you first arrive at the Wizard Romance Suite on the second floor, you’re greeted by a welcoming foyer and a grand staircase that immediately sets the tone for the magical adventure ahead.
You’ll notice that there are AI picture frames all throughout the suite with pictures of you and your spouse (if you submitted them in advance) that you get to see on repeat all throughout your stay!
Before the escape room elements even begin, you have access to all the main areas: a cozy kitchenette and dining space, a private bedroom with a loft bed, and a full bathroom tucked down a separate hallway.
These are the foundational parts of the suite you’ll explore first before the enchantment truly begins.
Kitchenette
The kitchenette is compact but thoughtfully stocked with everything you might need during your stay.
There’s a refrigerator and freezer, with the fridge already stocked with complimentary waters and juices.
You’ll also find a sink, microwave, and a Keurig, with plenty of coffee pods ready to use.
Basic plates, utensils, cups, and mugs are provided as well.
We didn’t bring any food or leftovers since we ate beforehand, but we did enjoy using the Keurig for a quick breakfast in the morning.
Dining Area
Just to the side of the kitchenette is a rustic, tavern-style dining area that feels a bit like stepping into a Harry Potter-inspired setting.
Think the cozy charm of some of the restaurants at Universal’s Wizarding World.
During our stay, we had a selection of popcorn, Cheez-Its, peanuts, and Nutri-Grain bars ready to enjoy throughout the stay.
Bedroom
Down the hall is the bedroom, with the Piggywarts Castle Bed.
It has a loft above the bed and some really fun, magical lighting that makes the room feel extra special.
As you go through the escape room experience, you’ll also find some extra little surprises and touches in the bedroom that make it even more fun.
Bathroom
Also down the hall is a full bathroom.
It’s pretty standard, but it has some fun theming.
If you know Harry Potter, you might spot Moaning Myrtle hanging out!
The shower in this bathroom isn’t actually the main one you’ll end up using, because there is a secret room you’ll unlock that is even better.
Secret Rooms To Unlock
Once you’re ready to dive into the escape room portion of the suite, the adventure really begins.
Just like a traditional escape room, you follow a series of clues, starting with a trail of white flower petals in the main room that leads you to your first hint.
From there, you start unlocking hidden rooms, secret tunnels, slides, staircases, and all kinds of fun activities.
There are four additional room areas, but within those, you’ll find several different experiences, challenges, and surprises that keep the adventure exciting from start to finish.
Hagrid’s Bath & Hot Stone Therapy Room
The first secret you unlock is a winding staircase that leads down to Hagrid’s Bath and Hot Stone Therapy Room.
Down here, you’ll find a huge jetted jacuzzi tub with a waterfall shower (that’s actually the main shower you’ll use during your stay).
It’s stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bath salts, and bubble bath, plus plenty of towels.
To the side is the Hot Stone Therapy Massage Room, complete with a massage table, massage guns, oils, and a box of hot stones with instructions on how and where to use them.
The best part about the overnight escape room experience is that you can take your time, there’s no rush.
You can dive into this room right away or save it for later, coming back as many times as you want to enjoy the jacuzzi or massages.
Most of the other secret rooms are designed to be experienced fully in the moment, but this one is flexible, so you can use it however it works best for your schedule.
Quidditch Tournament Room
After solving all the clues and puzzles in the spa room, you’ll unlock a secret tunnel that leads to the Quidditch Tournament Room.
In this space, you get to play Quidditch against each other as part of the challenge.
Completing the tournament is also key to unlocking the next clue and moving on to the second part of this area, making it a fun and interactive step in the adventure.
The Quidditch Selfie Challenge Room
The next part of the Quidditch adventure is the Quidditch Selfie Challenge Room.
In this room, you get to dress up like you’re ready to play Quidditch and use a ring light setup for a mini photo shoot.
You can take as many photos as you want, and there are fun props to play around with.
Capturing a photo is an essential part of the next challenge, so make sure to snap at least one, but feel free to get creative and take a few extra shots while you’re at it!
The Nimbus 2001 Trust Fall Ball Pit
After finishing the spa room and Quidditch challenges, you’ll unlock a secret tunnel that leads you back toward the main area.
As you follow more clues, you’ll discover another set of hidden tunnels and staircases that lead to the next part of the adventure.
One of the most fun surprises here is the Nimbus 2001 Trust Fall Ball Pit, which you actually reach by going down a slide.
Wand Making Train Ride
After sliding into the ball pit, you’ll unlock the next set of rooms and one of the most fun add-on experiences: the Wand Making Train Ride.
While you’re still working through the clues, you can take a break to decorate and make your own Harry Potter wand.
You can either purchase this in advance or add it on during your stay, everything you need is provided.
A really cool element is that it’s set on a real moving train inside the suite if figure out how to unlock it.
This is a perfect stopping point to enjoy the activity before moving on, and of course, you get to take your wand home with you!
You’ll get to ride the train regardless of if you add-on the wand making experience or not.
The Massage Chair Requirement Room
After the train ride, you’ll be led to the Massage Chair Requirement Room, where two full-body, zero-gravity massage chairs await.
Using the chairs is actually part of the challenge, so you need to enjoy them to unlock the next room and continue your adventure.
This part is phenomenal for relaxing and taking a little break.
There’s a TV, so you can log into your streaming services, watch YouTube, put on immersive spa music, or just kick back with a movie while you enjoy the chairs.
Museum of You Experience
This room also features the Museum of You Experience, an optional personal touch you can add-on, but only in advance.
Before your stay, you submit photos to the hosts, and they turn them into a unique AI gallery that you can watch while relaxing in the massage chairs.
These are in addition to main AI Wizard Frame photos that everyone can submit to see throughout the suite.
It’s a really cool way to make the experience feel even more personal and memorable.
It’s especially fun when the whole experience is a surprise for your spouse and they keep finding these personal touches all throughout the night!
The Love Spell Room
The final room you unlock is the Love Spell Room, which also has its own secret staircase and tunnel to reach.
What I love about this space is how cozy and tucked-away it feels, like a little attic hideaway or a secret club in a treehouse.
In this room, you get to make love potions, and it’s another part of the challenge that’s required to move on and complete the escape room experience.
It’s a fun, interactive way to wrap up the adventure and adds a really playful, magical touch to your stay.
Trophy Case Closet
There’s one more area you unlock, and it’s actually set up right at the very beginning.
It’s like a little trophy case closet.
As you go through the escape room challenges, you’ll be collecting different artifacts and items along the way, and this is where you bring them all together.
It’s kind of the “final step” that helps you complete the challenge fully and gives a satisfying sense of accomplishment after unlocking all the rooms and experiences.
Tips For Making The Most Of Your Experience
Staying at the Wizard Romance Suite is such a unique adventure, but there are a few things to think about in advance to make the most of your experience.
Check-in begins at 5 pm and I highly recommend arriving right at that time, especially if you’re only staying one night.
That way, you have plenty of time to dive into the escape room portion of your stay.
If you’re staying two nights, you’ll have more flexibility, but coming in late really limits your time to enjoy everything.
The hosts suggest tackling the first half of the rooms right away and then taking a break for dinner in town.
The suite is right on the main street, so it’s walkable to some restaurants, or you can drive if you prefer.
Personally, I like to eat earlier so I don’t have to come and go, but the option is there if you want it.
Checkout isn’t until 11 am, which is perfect since you’ll likely have a late night exploring all the rooms and activities, so don’t schedule a super early morning if you want to enjoy everything.
While the suite provides waters and juices, we brought extra because there’s so much going on that you’ll get thirsty.
They also provide robes, and the hosts recommend you can do most of the experience in a bathrobe if you like, which is super convenient for hopping between the jacuzzi, massage chairs, and other activities.
If you get stuck on any of the clues, don’t worry, each one has a QR code that gives hints, instructions, or directions.
It’s a clever way to get help without anyone having to physically guide you, which keeps the experience private but still interactive.
I highly recommend submitting the photos for AI Wizard Frames throughout your stay because it’s included and it’s such a fun surprise!
More Romantic Adventure Getaways Locations
While we stayed at the Hillsboro, Ohio location, Romantic Adventure Getaways has a couple of other locations and suites that are worth checking out.
Hillsboro has three completely unique rooms:
- Wizard Romance Suite – Harry Potter–inspired, which is the suite we stayed in.
- Pleasure Island Suite – a pirate-themed, Treasure Island–style adventure.
- A Night in Paris Suite – Parisian charm and romance with a French twist.
The Mount Vernon, Ohio location also has three entirely different themed suites, and we’ve actually visited that location too!
I even surprised JP on that trip.
He thought we were just going to a simple bed and breakfast, not an escape room–style hotel with luxury elements.
If you have someone willing to be surprised, I highly recommend it!
It’s such a fun way to experience the adventure.
The Mount Vernon suites include:
- King Louis Suite – royal elegance with a French flair.
- Paradise Lost Suite – jungle and Tarzan-inspired fun.
- Genie Romance Suite – Aladdin-themed, which is the one we stayed in.
Finally, they also have a new location opening in Morrison, Illinois, which will feature three more themed suites, giving you even more options for an immersive romantic adventure.
Conclusion: Romantic Adventure Getaways Review
Overall, Romantic Adventure Getaways offers a truly unique couple’s experience.
Part escape room, part luxury suite, and all fun.
It’s especially memorable if you’re able to surprise your partner and keep the full adventure a secret until you arrive.
Each suite is immersive, interactive, and full of unexpected touches that make for a night to remember.
