Visiting Kennedy Space Center Exhibits
Kennedy Space Center is much bigger than I expected.
There are indoor and outdoor exhibits, many interactive exhibits and special exhibits, and several add-on experiences.

Rocket Garden
This exhibit features a collection of rockets, including the Saturn V rocket, the largest rocket ever built.
Heroes and Legends Exhibit
This exhibit tells the story of the astronauts who have flown in space.
Shuttle Launch Experience
This simulator puts you in the pilot’s seat of a space shuttle as it launches into space.
Space Shuttle Atlantis
This exhibit features the space shuttle Atlantis, which was retired from service in 2011.
Cape Canaveral Air Force Station
This historic site was once used to launch rockets into space.
Interactive Exhibits
Inside the museum, there are plenty of interactive exhibits like this slide and tunnel.
Mission Control
One of the coolest parts of the indoor exhibits is the mission control room.
It reminds me so much of when I worked at Mission Space in Epcot.
There is a mission control room there right at the end of the queue, but it is significantly smaller.
Launch Simulation
Outside there is a launch simulation that anyone can participate in.
We saw these different colored places to step on that had electric bolts on them and I walked all over them when we first went in but nothing was happening so I figured they were turned off.
When we went back outside, there was a whole group doing it and I realized it had a meter that you have to fill.
Once it is full it will simulate a rocket launch.
Mars Rover
There is a Mars Rover exhibit outdoors that also features a futuristic model of what Mars Rovers could look like in future generations.
Visit The World’s Largest NASA Space Shop
We always buy a Christmas ornament everywhere we travel, so we always check out the gift shops.
This place really had a little bit of everything and it would be easy to spend your life savings.

Here are some tips for planning your visit to Kennedy Space Center.
1. Plan Ahead

Tickets to Kennedy Space Center can sell out, so it’s always safer to purchase them in advance.

3. Arrive Early
Pretend it’s your first visit to Magic Kingdom and you have to rope drop a brand new ride on opening day.
Maybe not that extreme, but plan to arrive right at opening time so you can make sure you’ll have enough time to do everything you want to do.
4. Wear Comfortable Shoes
You’ll be doing a lot of walking.
5. Bring Sunscreen
Even though there are a lot of indoor exhibits, there are also several outdoor exhibits and tours, so it’s good to have just in case you end up spending a significant amount of time outside.
6. Bring A Portable Phone Charger
Make sure your phone is fully charged and that you have an extra portable charger with you so you can pictures and videos without worrying about your phone dying before the end of the day.
7. Check The Launch Schedules
If you’re interested in seeing a launch, check the Kennedy Space Center website for launch schedules.
Launches can be cancelled or delayed due to weather or technical issues.
In my personal experience, I feel like more often than not there are cancellations and delays, but I don’t know the actual statistics on it.

The Kennedy Space Center is not too far from popular tourist spots like Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral, but there are also hotels closer to Kennedy Space Center.
