UPDATE: MALIBU WINE SAFARI IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED. READ BELOW FOR ALTERNATIVE ACTIVITIES IN THE LOCAL AREA.

In 2019, the famous Malibu Wine Safari introduced an all new tour called Malibu Lights: Winter Nights that ran all Winter Season in the evenings.

It was epic!

Malibu Wine Safari has always been a popular day time attraction, especially for bachelorette parties.

This was their first venture (that I know of) into nighttime entertainment.

Christmas Lights & Wine Tasting at Malibu Wine Safari

It was set up where you take the safari truck to 4-5 different spots that are all themed and immersive.

At each stop you get to sample 2 different wines.

A unique feature of the Christmas wine safari is that one of the stops had hot chocolate and hot apple cider.

It gets very cold up there in the Winter.

So these drinks were a perfect way to end the night.

They were very much needed.

We had really awesome guides with us and there were lots of great photo ops throughout the whole experience.

We highly recommend this as a date night or group event.

If you get enough people to fill the whole safari truck, even better!

I believe it holds about 20 people.

Stops #1 and #2

You might recognize some of these photos as being similar to the Halloween set up, especially with the green bulbs.

They were originally set up to look like the tree roots growing out and helped create a spooky look.

But they were able to be repurposed for Christmas.

Stop #3

They also kept our favorite stop, the light tunnel!

They had heat lamps and couches at this stop too, since we spent a little bit longer at this stop than some of the others.

It was a great place for photos and videos!

Since we did this before we started blogging, we didn’t seem to save any of the videos.

The lights on the tunnel were synced with Christmas music.

But not like traditional Christmas songs.

It was more so Christmas-y sounding electronic music.

The Final Stop

Now for the stop that was the most unique for this event!

We were very pleasantly surprised with this one because it was nothing like we experienced with the Halloween wine safari.

This stop was a whole courtyard lined with Christmas trees.

We had hot chocolate, hot apple cider, there were lots of couches and heat lamps, and a neon sign for the event.

Included with your admission price is the tumbler used for sampling wine!

You actually get to keep it, which was unexpected and it comes with a lid.

We were also able to get more than one taste of each wine along the safari.

If we wanted to go back for seconds we were able to. Which was great.

You’ll definitely want to dress warm in this area, with many layers.

There are heat lamps at many stops though!

You really get your money’s worth with Malibu Wine Safari.

It’s also in a neat area.

So you can make a whole day or night of it if you want.

Some of the most popular events of the past are long gone like Snow Day LA, but here are some of our favorites that are still going strong!

Night of Lights OC / Winter Fest

This drive-thru event is at the Orange County Fairgrounds and is as immersive as it gets.

There’s snow, food, drinks, photo ops, and of course, Santa!

LA Zoo Lights: Animals Aglow

Another great evening event for the holidays is checking out the Christmas lights at the LA Zoo.

There’s even a handful of animals that will still be out at night.
