Want to know what it’s like to stay in a Deluxe Studio at the Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disneyland Hotel? We’ve got you covered with everything you need to know!

The brand new Discovery Tower Villas at Disneyland Hotel are exclusively for Disney Vacation Club members.

These rooms are referred to as “villas” and range from duo studios that sleep 2 guests to 3 bedroom grand villas that can sleep 12 guests.

You get special access to your own pool, separate from the main pool at Disneyland Hotel, and much less crowded!

A great perk about being a Disney Vacation Club member using points to stay here is that parking is free during your stay!

Normally you’d have to pay $35 a night as a regular hotel guest.

We were treated to a stay in a Deluxe Studio Villa – Preferred View during opening week and I can confirm that we definitely had a “preferred view”, directly overlooking the main pool and waterslide.

You can watch the full video on our YouTube Channel that shows you the new tower, lobby, Deluxe Studio room, pool, and the food and drinks we enjoyed at the hotel restaurants.

If you’re a Disney Vacation Club Member, you’ll go through your portal to book this stay with your points.

But did you know, you don’t have to be a Disney Vacation Club Member to stay here?

You can book this hotel on just about any booking platform and pay cash!

However, it is incredibly more cost effective to be a Disney Vacation Club Member using points to stay here rather than paying cash.

Disney Vacation Club Villas At Disneyland Hotel Review

The highly anticipated villas at Disneyland Hotel bring much needed Disney Vacation Club villas to the Disneyland Resort.

The new Discovery Tower where all of these villas are located perfectly mix in with the mid-century modern design of the rest of the Disneyland Hotel.

When checking in, you’ll still go through the main entrance of the Disneyland Hotel and check in at the main lobby.

Parking is also still outside the main lobby by the convention center section of the hotel.

So it’s a little bit of a trek to your room, but if you take advantage of bell services to carry your luggage, it’s much easier.

You can also take advantage of valet parking as well, which will take even more work out of the check in process (for a fee).

Discovery Tower Lobby

Once you’re all checked in, you’ll make your way to the Discovery Tower, which is past the main pool and on the right.

It’s usually pretty empty in the lobby, but during peak day time hours it can be busy with Disney Vacation Club tours for prospective buyers and current members.

Also with it being brand new, many cast members and visitors may be passing through just to get a look.

Elevators and Hallways

There are 4 elevators right off of the lobby and they seemed to be pretty efficient during our visit.

If you’ve stayed in places like Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort at Disney World, you know sometimes the resorts that are towers tend to have long waits for elevators pretty frequently.

We never had any issues during our stay.

The elevators were surprisingly always available and never crowded.

We left our room about an hour before check out, so they weren’t busy then either, but I’d imagine at 11 am each day they’re slightly busier than normal with people checking out.

This probably applies to check in as well.

They may be busier around 4 pm each day too.

Deluxe Studio Villa at Disneyland Hotel – Preferred View

Our room was on the 4th floor overlooking the main pool.

With the Deluxe Studio Villas at Disneyland Hotel, each room is themed to either Princess and the Frog or Sleeping Beauty.

We got a Princess and the Frog themed room!

I was pleasantly surprised with how themed it was based off of Disney’s recent renovations to other resorts making them more generic.

Check out our YouTube video at the top of this post for more room details like the closets, storage space, the trundle bed, wall decor, and more.

In the bathroom you’ll notice that the Disney branded shampoo, conditioner, and body wash is now attached to the shower wall rather than in individual bottles that you can take home.

I’ve used these Disney toiletries for many years and have always enjoyed them, but this time around I had to shampoo twice to get it to lather and feel like it cleaned my hair.

I don’t know if this is from having chlorine from the pool in my hair or the low water pressure in the shower, but it was just something I noticed that I never had a problem with before.

The shower does come with a detachable shower head, so if your room has lower water pressure, this is one way to get around that.

Pools

The new DVC pool is mid-century modern heaven.

You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Palm Springs.

When we were at the pool, the pool itself was closed for a few hours, but the hot tub and chairs were all still open for enjoyment.

We were able to get some great photos since no one was in the pool!

When you visit the pool, you’ll check in with the lifeguard team to get a special wristband giving you access to all of the pools during your visit.

The main pool is the one with the monorail water slide, which our room had a direct view of.

The DVC pool also has cabanas you can rent out that look like little storage cubes.

The DVC Pool also has a Steamboat Willie themed splash pad for kids to play around in.

There is also a poolside bar that will be opening in the near future, but as of the time of writing this there is not an opening date set yet.

Extra Perks For Disneyland Hotel Guests

There are a few bonus offerings I want to mention here that make staying in the Villas at Disneyland Hotel a little more magical.

When you check in, you’ll be given an activities guide for the upcoming week.

Some are paid and some are free and the schedules can change seasonally, but in general there’s a few things you’ll almost always be able to do.

Currently, twice a week there is a free movie night at 7 pm.

During our visit the movies were Encanto and Coco.

Some other free events included a Disneyland Hotel Tour on Saturdays at 1 pm, Learn To Draw classes on Thursdays, and Pumpkin Decorating on Mondays in the Fall.

Now for the paid stuff.

These activities are well worth the small cost.

You can do Yoga in Redwood Creek before park opening, Power Walk through DCA before park opening, Sunrise Yoga in Disneyland Park, Paddleboard Yoga, Sound Meditations, and more.

These all have to be booked in advanced, but during our stay there was still some availability the day before, so you don’t always have to book too far in advance.

Dining Options At Disneyland Hotel

Just outside the Discovery Tower is Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar and Tangaroa Terrace.

Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar

During our visit, we were able to join the walk up list for Trader Sam’s through the app.

It said the wait time would be about 10 minutes, but within seconds of joining the walk up list our table was ready.

They hold the table for 10 minutes once it’s ready, so you have plenty of time if you join the walk up list from your room and then walk over when it’s ready.

JP’s favorite drink here is the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum which is a mix of Pyrat XO Reserve Rum, Cream of Coconut, and Juices of Pineapple and Orange dusted with Cinnamon and Nutmeg.

Each time I visit I like to try something different.

This trip I tried the Piranha Pool which is Stoli Strasberi Vodka blended with Pineapple Juice, Cream of Coconut, Strawberry Puree, and Blue Curacao.

Tangaroa Terrace

In addition to the tropical drinks Trader Sam’s is known for, they also serve a full dinner menu from the neighboring Tangaroa Terrace.

We tried the Hawaiian Platter and the Pu Pu Platter since both of those included the most variety of food items.

With the Hawaiian Platter you get the choice of Marinated Short Rib or Teriyaki Chicken Thigh.

For your sides, you get Furikake seasoned Jasmine Rice, Macaroni Salad, and Tangy Slaw.

With the Pu Pu Platter you get 2 Pork Gyoza (potstickers), Panko-crusted Long Beans, Macaroni Salad, and Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings served with Togarashi Aioli.

A perk of staying in a hotel so close to Trader Sam’s and Tangaroa Terrace is that you can grab a dessert from Tangaroa Terrace to go and enjoy it in your room later.

The Deluxe Studio Villas come with a mini kitchen consisting of a mini fridge, microwave, sink, and dish ware.

We found these mini Whoopie Pies at Tangaroa Terrace that were perfect for a few hours after we had eaten dinner.

Visiting The Theme Parks

As a hotel guest, you can get early access to the parks, which is a phenomenal perk.

We’ve found in the past that getting a head start on the e-ticket attractions before day guests come in help you get through way more attractions throughout the rest of your day in the parks.
