Club Wyndham Avenue Plaza Review

New Orleans has a lot of lodging options with easy access to the French Quarter, where we wanted to spend majority of our free time.

This was the most cost effective option during our visit.

It definitely isn’t the cheapest compared to some other Club Wyndham properties though.

Since we booked somewhat last minute, the points were discounted a little bit which helped.

In the past we would have always been content with Studio rooms.

But with both of us working the entire trip, we preferred to have at least a 1 Bedroom so we can work in separate rooms when we need to.

We found that a lot of properties only have 1 Bedrooms as the lowest level room type, so that worked out for us.

✔ Club Wyndham Avenue Plaza One Bedroom

It was a very cute, nicely decorated room.

I felt like the living room was way bigger than it needed to be in comparison with the rest of the room.

The bathroom is very tiny, but still functional for 1 person at a time.

The bedroom was on the smaller side as well, but wasn’t cramped with all of our stuff.

As someone who previously worked in the hotel industry, I know you have to make the best of what you’re given to work with in the building and I feel like they did.

It’s not like they can gut all the rooms in the building and redesign the entire layout.

They would never recoup those expenses.

You’d be surprised how many hotel guests let that “ruin their vacation” though.

You have to know that when visiting cities, especially old cities, you should expect to pay much more than you would think for a small amount of space.

✔ Getting Around New Orleans From Avenue Plaza

Club Wyndham Avenue Plaza is located on Saint Charles Ave in the Garden District.

What we loved about the location is that the RTA trolley stops right outside the hotel.

We were able to take it over to the French Quarter each day during our visit.

Single ride passes as well as multi-day passes are really cheap.

It was only a few dollars a day I believe and took maybe 15 minutes or so.

It comes by pretty frequently.

So we never had to wait more than maybe 5-10 minutes for the next trolley.

Usually it was only a couple of minutes.

There’s a lot in that area to do too.

But since we were short on time we spent most of our time visiting the French Quarter and then driving out to other areas like the plantations and swamps.

If you can get a room during Mardi Gras you’ll be right on the parade route, so I’m sure that’s super fun.

The Garden District is the more family friendly side of Mardi Gras (so we’ve been told).

✔ Parking At Club Wyndham Avenue Plaza

If you bring a vehicle with you, this property is valet only.

We paid about $50 for 3 nights of parking, but I believe for those paying cash for the room (non-members of Club Wyndham) parking might be double.

Parking situations are one of my least favorite things about city stays.

It’s always a hassle and someone always has to do everything for you.

Sometimes this means you have to wait around awhile.

I’d personally rather be able to just walk out to my car whenever I please and leave whenever I’d like.

We never had any issues at this location, it was just inconvenient and made everything take longer.

Everyone was nice and helpful.
