Want to know what it’s like to stay at Mystic Dunes Resort in Orlando, Florida? We’ve got you covered with our recent experience at this resort just outside of Disney World!

Mystic Dunes Resort is located in Celebration, Florida, only about 5 miles South of Disney World.

It’s to the Western side of Disney, so it’s just below Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, giving you easy access to the Disney parks when you stay here.

It also happens to only be 10 miles away from where some of my family lives, so it makes it a convenient place for us to stay when we go to visit.

Mystic Dunes Resort Review

Mystic Dunes Resort is a timeshare property that was formerly owned by Diamond Resorts.

Recently, Hilton Grand Vacations bought out Diamond Resorts and has since re-branded the resort and taken over the operations of the resort.

If you’re a timeshare owner, you can book this resort with your points if you own with Diamond Resorts or HGV Max.

However, this resort, like many timeshares, are open to the public as well.

The best feature of these timeshare villas are the full kitchens and in-unit laundry that regular hotel rooms just don’t have.

Room Types

When we stayed here, we chose the 1 Bedroom Deluxe because it was actually the cheapest available room for our 2 night stay.

Check out the link above for a quick room tour video on our YouTube Channel.

It’s actually one of our most popular videos since this is a very popular timeshare resort.

They have a variety of room types available that will suit just about any type of group.

There’s 1 bedrooms that have just a queen bed, 1 bedrooms with a queen bed and pullout sofa, and 1 bedrooms with 1 king bed like we had.

For 2 bedrooms, you can choose from a combination of rooms like 1 bedroom having the king bed while the second bedroom can have either 1-2 queen beds or 2 double beds, and some have the additional pullout sofa.

Lastly, there are even 3 bedroom villas here.

The 3 bedrooms have 1 king bed, 2 double beds, and a queen bed or 1 king bed and 3 queen beds.

When you book your room you’ll be able to choose the exact type you want/need.

It’s not just randomly assigned, so don’t worry!

Room Pricing

Our 1 bedroom deluxe room was 550 points for a 2 night stay in the middle of March.

With what we’ve paid into our timeshare, plus annual maintenance dues, 550 points comes out to about $287 for our 2 night stay, or $143.50 per night.

While that isn’t the cheapest hotel room ever, remember that these are timeshare rooms and this was in the middle of Spring Break travel season for Orlando, which is hugely popular.

Not only does it have a bedroom separate from the living area, it has a full kitchen, in-unit laundry, a dining room, free parking, free wifi, and more.

Considering even the Value Resorts at Disney tend to run over $200 a night much of the time now, this place is a steal.

If you’re booking directly and paying cash, you can get many of these rooms for $100 a night if you stay during the week in the off-season, so it’s affordable no matter how you book it.

Resort Amenities

Being an Orlando resort, of course there’s a pool, golf course, and driving range.

You can also enjoy the fitness center, tennis courts, an on-site restaurant, room service, a business center, and meeting rooms.

The restaurant, serving American food, is part of the golf club and overlooks the golf course.

It’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and it’s where the room service food comes from.

Additionally, there is also a Tiki Bar and Grille that is open mid-day.

They offer everything from a full bar to appetizers, sandwiches, and entrees.

Overall Experience

We love the resort feel of this property.

It definitely feels more like a resort than most of the other Diamond timeshare properties we’ve stayed in, but maybe the setting of being in Orlando played a part in it.

We absolutely loved our room.

It was spacious, had a full kitchen, in-unit laundry, a nice balcony, and we loved having the separate bedroom.

We had a great view of a huge storm that was rolling in one night where there were tornadoes in other towns nearby.

I distinctly remember this night because they interrupted one of the final The Bachelor episodes of the season to show the storm path.

A place with a jacuzzi is also number one in my book.

I bring epsom salt with me whenever we travel to our timeshare resorts because we almost always have a jacuzzi in our unit (and the epsom salt is because virtually every type of bubble bath I’m allergic to except for pure epsom salt and oatmeal baths lol).

Don’t worry, all the doors around the bathroom can be closed and locked off from the rest of the unit so you can enjoy your bath in peace.

Overall, it’s definitely one of the better maintained resorts, especially now that it is under ownership and management of Hilton Grand Vacations.

Our Favorite Diamond Resorts Properties In The US

We’ve been timeshare owners for several years now and we’re on a mission to stay at every property at least once.

These are our favorites so far.

Ka’anapali Beach Club (Maui)

Ka’anapali Beach Club is located on Maui and is one of the most coveted of all of Diamond’s properties.

It’s in a great location, just down the road from Lahaina.

Plus, we enjoyed having the full kitchen, jacuzzi tub, and our beautiful ocean view.

Polo Towers (Las Vegas)

Polo Towers is right on the Las Vegas Strip, across from The Cosmopolitan.

We love the central location of this resort, as well as having a full kitchen because most Vegas hotels today have their fridge full of drinks that have insane mark ups, making them un-useable for yourself.

We’ve stayed in a variety of room types here over the years including a Two BedroomStudio Efficiency, and 1 Bedroom Accessible Room.

Historic Powhatan Resort (Williamsburg)

We absolutely loved staying at this resort in Williamsburg.

It was one of our more affordable timeshare visits and the unit had everything we needed.

We had just a One Bedroom, but it was 3 stories and set up like a townhome.

The first floor was the entrance, the second floor had a kitchen, dining room, full bathroom, bedroom with en-suite bathroom, and laundry.

Then the top floor was like a converted loft or attic with a tv, couch, and coffee table.

Varsity Clubs of America (Tucson)

This resort is the only place we stay in Tucson and we drive through here A LOT on our frequent road trips.

If you book with 30 days of your visit it’s pretty cheap.

We love the pool and hot tub here because it usually stays warm enough in the evenings to enjoy both.

It’s a quieter, no frills place and it’s right in the middle of town, centrally located to everything in Tucson.

The One Bedroom units are perfect with their full kitchen, jacuzzi tub, and dining table.

Palm Canyon Resort (Palm Springs, California)

Palm Canyon Resort is the premiere timeshare resort in Palm Springs.

We love staying here for fun stay-cations every so often because it’s always discounted within 30-60 days or less of travel.

They have a great pool with a hot tub and water slides built into the rocks.

The Suites at Fall Creek (Branson, Missouri)

Last but not least, we love Diamond’s resort in Branson.

It’s set back along a creek, hence the name, so it’s a quite woodsy experience just outside of town.

It’s still close enough to everything too.

What we loved about this room was the counter space in the kitchen, the screened in porch, and the open layout of the room.

The One Bedroom layout here could easily be the equivalent of a real one bedroom apartment.

Conclusion: Mystic Dunes Resort & Golf Club Review

Mystic Dunes Resort is a great place to stay when you’re in Orlando whether you’re there to go to Disney World, other theme parks, visiting for work, or just visiting friends or family.

It’s a nice home away from home with all the amenities in the room and around the resort that you could possibly need, plus it’s SO affordable.
