The Best Food and Drinks in Las Vegas Off The Strip

In-between activities, you’ll probably want to grab a bite to eat while you’re off The Strip.

Here are a few of the best (and some of the cheapest) places for food and/or drinks off The Strip, including some hidden gems.

These are all pretty close to all the other suggestions on the list, so it’ll be easy to pair these restaurants with the other activities to make a day of exploring Las Vegas off the Strip.

17. Frankie’s Tiki Room

This is a classic in Las Vegas and it’s open 24/7!

Fun fact – the tiki bar designer is the grandson of one of the designers of the original Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland!

If you visit during the day, it might take a few minutes for your eyes to adjust once you’re inside because of how dark it is but it’s really cool!

They have so many drinks on the menu that there is definitely something for everybody and you can’t go wrong with any of them.

18. Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina

We went here to meet up with some friends who are locals and introduced us to this place.

They’ve branched out and opened multiple locations in Vegas now.

Of course you should order a Flaming Fajita while you’re here, but all of their other menu items are just as good.

They also have some pretty good Sangria!

Juan's Flaming Fajitas & Cantina Las Vegas Nevada

19. Sickie’s Garage Burgers and Brews

Sickie’s Garage is located in the Town Square Mall on the South end of The Strip.

It’s a small chain (but growing) with locations in Nevada, Nebraska, North Dakota, Minnesota, South Dakota, and I think I even saw one in Florida.

20. Frijoles & Frescas Grilled Tacos

There are 6 locations all throughout Las Vegas.

They are best known for their Mexican street corn side dish that is only $2.89.

Their fresh fruit Aguas Frescas are also a must try.

You can ask to sample whichever flavors you’d like and you can even mix flavors.

They have options like strawberry, pineapple, mango, watermelon, chia lemonade, cucumber, and spinach.

21. Viva Las Arepas

Viva Las Arepas is just beyond the far northern end of The Strip.

It’s a Venezuelan restaurant that serves arepas, empanadas, pastelitos, and more.

Most dishes are less than $10!

22. Durango Taco Shop

Durango Taco Shop has 6 locations spread all throughout Las Vegas.

They are known for serving breakfast all day and having a variety of cheap daily specials under $5.

You can get 3 el pastor tacos for only $5 and 3 quesa birria tacos for $9.99.

Even their combination plates are less than $15.

For dessert you can get a churro for $1.50.

Their Fusion Tostada is less than $10 and has been featured on Food Network.

I highly recommend their creamed corn and their mac n cheese.

Located on Paradise Road, this classic Italian restaurant has been serving up pasta since the 1980s.

Ferraro’s uses only fresh ingredients and has a spectacular wine list.

This Italian American restaurant stays open until 4 am and plays jazz music nightly.

27. Esther’s Kitchen

Located on S Casino Center Blvd, Esther’s Kitchen is part of the Arts District near Downtown.

Here you can get seasonal Italian neighborhood dishes.

Our Favorites Attractions Off The Strip

Here are our favorite attractions and tourist spots off the Strip.

28. Seven Magic Mountains

This was meant to be a temporary art exhibit, but has been around for 7+ years now.

You’ll pass by it on your way in to Vegas if you’re coming from California.

It’s a bit of a way outside of town, so it’s perfect to stop in on your way in to Vegas or your way out.

It’s free and can sometimes be busy. Also beware of snakes because you’re out in the desert!

29. Las Vegas Neon Museum

Have you ever wondered what happened to all of the iconic neon signs Las Vegas is known for?

The Neon Museum kept all the best ones and you can see them on display in their boneyard.

They also offer evening immersive shows.

Check out this video on our YouTube Channel to see how our Neon Museum experience was.

Las Vegas Neon Museum

30. Outlet Mall Shopping

Conveniently located in-between The Strip and Downtown is an outdoor outlet mall with a ton of shops and some dining options.

It’s a great place to pick up souvenirs or to get any items you may have forgotten to pack.

There is also the Town Square Mall on the south end past the Strip that is another great outdoor shopping experience with a mix of shops and dining options.

Fremont Street (aka Downtown Las Vegas)

This area is kind of like the original Vegas Strip.

There’s a cover over it which helps keep it cool in the summer and it is actually a giant projection screen that always shows trippy designs to go along with the music that is playing.

You can also zipline across it!

But anyway, these are our favorite things to do when we go Downtown:

31. Free Concerts

There is a stage set up in the middle of Fremont Street where there are free concerts just about every night.

On holidays especially they get some bigger names in there.

32. Casino Hopping

Pop into the different resorts and casinos along Fremont Street and check out some historic spots.

It’s interesting to see how different this area is from the newer resorts and casinos along the Strip now.

Consider checking out Circa’s new rooftop pool amphitheater, Stadium Swim or the neon signs at Binion’s, Four Queens, El Cortez, and more.

33. Slide Through The Shark Tank at The Golden Nugget

This iconic pool has a water slide that goes right through a shark tank!

If you’re not staying at The Golden Nugget, you can get a reservation pass just for the pool area.

You can also see it from inside the hotel, so you can just roam about and check it out too.

34. SlotZilla Zipline

I mentioned earlier that you can zipline across Fremont Street.

SlotZilla is where you’ll do it.

You can choose to lay on your stomach and fly across the zipline or sit in the traditional way.

35. Fremont Street Walking Tour with GoCity

To get a feel for the whole area, the best way is a walking tour.

You’ll learn about the history of Fremont Street plus learn about what all there is to do there today.

GoCity is an attractions pass where you can bundle experiences together for one price.

This walking tour is one of the experiences they offer.

36. Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse

This steakhouse is located inside the Golden Nugget.

We’ve been a couple of times now and none of their dishes disappoint.

I love their Filet Mignon, Mashed Potatoes, Mac N Cheese, and of course their wine selection.

Vic & Anthony’s is part of Landry’s, so if you are a member of the Landry’s Select Club, you can earn or redeem points here.

Bread Service from Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse - Golden Nugget - Downtown Fremont Street - Las Vegas, Nevada

37. Bingo at The Plaza

We’ve started playing Bingo at the Plaza the last 3 or 4 trips and we have NEVER lost!

*knock on wood*

When you sign up for Plaza rewards, which is free, they have always had Bingo free play every day that we’ve been.

What they’ll do is match your buy-in so that you double the number of cards you get to play.

I want to say the minimum spend is like $40-$45, but with the rewards card you’ll get double cards for that price.

It’s all electronic so it keeps track of everything for you.

You also get 2 free drinks while you’re there!

38. The Underground Speakeasy and Distillery

We discovered this place a couple of years ago when we visited for a friend’s 50th birthday.

A handful of us went to the Mob Museum which is just outside of the Downtown Grand hotel we were staying in.

That’s how we discovered they have a speakeasy.

You have to follow their Instagram to get the code word each day to get in by the way.

Our favorite order is the Old Fashioned which comes in this fake book.

It’s pre-mixed so you just add it to your glass of ice.

I also enjoy their Irish Coffee!

There’s definitely WAY more things to do in Vegas on Fremont Street, but those are our favorites that we tend to go back to each trip.

The Best Places To Stay In Las Vegas Off The Strip

You may be wondering, is it better to stay off The Strip in Las Vegas?

Or maybe, is it cheaper to stay on or off the Vegas Strip?

There are surprisingly many cheap hotels on and off the Strip, so in general you don’t really save money by staying off the Strip.

However, you may get cheaper parking or resort fees or more for your money at some resorts off the Strip.

If you’re going to stay off the Strip, these would be our top three choices.

✅ Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, a Curio Collection by Hilton

This new resort is just off the Strip and is state of the art in every way.

If you’re looking to be near the Strip, but not quite on it, then this is the perfect compromise.

Even better, if you’re a Hilton Honors member, you can earn points or redeem points at this property.

Click Here To Book Your Virgin Hotel Stay Today!

✅ Golden Nugget Las Vegas

If you’re looking to stay downtown on Fremont Street, my favorite place there is the Golden Nugget.

I mentioned this hotel before with the shark tank water slide, so it’s the perfect place to stay to also soak in some of the iconic experiences of Las Vegas.

Golden Nugget also has a great rewards program since they have resort casinos in several locations.

So if you visit those places, Golden Nugget is a great option for a Vegas stay.

Click Here To Book Your Golden Nugget Stay Today!

✅ Conrad Las Vegas at Resorts World

Resorts World is at the far end of The Strip.

Personally it’s too far to be considered “on the Strip” for me.

So this is another great option to be near the action but not directly in the middle of it.

The great thing about Resorts World is that they have a variety of hotels inside, all part of the Hilton brand.

Conrad is one of the most luxurious of Hilton’s hotels and depending on the time that you’re traveling to Vegas, it may be your cheapest Conrad stay possible.

So that is why I recommend staying at Conrad as opposed to the other brands within Resorts World.

However, I would stay anywhere at Resorts World that’s available!
